What does this title mean, ‘Is my heart winking at me?’
One of the things I share on ‘5 Steps to Freedom from Chronic Stress for the Professional Woman’ audio training is that the real root of chronic stress is living a life disconnected from the heart.
The poet Rumi says, “Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.”
When I start working with new clients, often times they believe they need to change their thinking in order to change.
Not true.
Trying to always work with thoughts to change has significant limitations and often times, short yielded results that end in a create goal – meet goal – revert back process.
Been there. Maybe you are there right now.
One way to go deeper in the change process is to access and work with your heart.
One way (there are many) to do this is gain awareness of your heart’s body language.
This means to personify your heart when you are stuck, hurt, stubborn, frustrated, isolated, impatient, judgmental, etc.
It takes mindful awareness to stop and acknowledge the sense of you being in one of the conditions listed above.
And once you are aware, stop. Softly orient your attention to your heart.
Imagine your heart had eyes. How would the eyes be looking at you?
Imagine the heart had a mouth. What would the mouth be doing?
Imagine the heart had arms. What would the arms be doing?
Tuning into the state of the heart helps you access your true emotion and potentially protective and defensive armor.
Next, ask your heart what it needs to safely receive love.
Offer yourself that gift. Allow the body and heart to soften.
You are one step closer to removing the barriers that you’ve built against love.
And yeah, my heart likes to wink at me. 😉
