I love dark chocolate. I eat it everyday!

You are mistaken if you think you cannot eat what you love (unless, of course you are allergic or it creates problems – practice ‘do no harm’).

But yes, you can eat what you love and truly be present for the experience.

Emotional eating is not ‘bad’ or something that needs to be ‘stopped.’

Instead, the relationship to emotional eating may need a little love. Consider your relationship to the emotional eating habit.

Awareness is the first step. What qualities exist in this relationship as it relates to:

  • TEMPO – What rate of speed are your thoughts about food? What rate of speed do you reach for a bite? What rate of speed do you chew? What rate of speed do you digest?

Now pause. Inhale. Exhale. Get physically warm. And lovingly touch self-judgment.

When you are at your best – meaning you feel good, there is joy in your heart, and you are calm, what tempo are you operating within?

What tempo feels safe to you?  What tempo feels nourishing?

Explore it. Name it. Now cultivate more of that. Create experiences that bring those feelings into eating.

Practice with awareness and compassion. Leave a comment and let me know what happens.

PS – Join me Thursday, January 24 at Haute Chocolate in downtown W-S from  5-7 PM for a Mindful Chocolate and Wine Tasting. It’s a mindful cultivation! 🙂

Nom nom nom,
