This subject is slightly off topic from FREEDOM FROM CHRONIC STRESS & mindfulness, but I had to share this with you.
I live a pretty organic life – both for environmental and health reasons.
I shop for local produce, I choose 90% organic, non-GMO foods, and when I eat animal products, I obtain it from local farms that are humanely raised and fed – including dairy (this will help you be free of chronic stress by building resilience in the body – Step 3 of the Freedom from Chronic Stress Program).
As I’ve made this shift over the past 7 years, I started noticing all the other ‘stuff’ I use that didn’t feel ‘right.’
And one of those was deodorant.
Up until my early 30s, I was a commercial deodorant user.
I wanted to switch to something more natural with no parabens (potential estrogen disruptors found in make-up, hair products, and deodorant) or aluminum.
So I switched to Tom’s of Maine, but honestly, it never worked well.
I always felt like I smelled sour.
True story, in 2011, I went to an Ayurvedic (the traditional medicine system of India) practitioner.
He leaned in to me and gave a little sniff and said, ‘you are sour.’
Yes, in Ayurveda, sour is classic of the pitta dosha which is my ‘body type’ – medium build, competitive, easily irritated, intense, intelligent, and a defended heart. (note mindfulness helps a lot to balance some of these traits!)
And even though I lean naturally toward sour, I felt like I smelled worse. Not pleasant. 🙁
I recently tried Primal Pit Paste. It is the bomb and works awesome!
I only have to apply once and I seriously have no BO. 🙂
It does cost a little more than your regular deodorant at the drug store, but definitely worth it to me.
I bought the stick type in lavender. You can find it on the Primal Pit Paste website and Amazon.
Let me know if you try it and how you like it – enjoy!
Sniff Sniff,
Angela
